MD: Isle Of Wight Bay, US 50 Bridge, Schedule Deviation
- Date Reported: Nov 25, 2025
- Reporter: Waterway Guide Staff
- Source: USCG District 5
- Description:
United States 50 Bridge Mariners are advised that the US 50 Bridge, located across Sinepuxent Bay in Ocean City, Maryland, will be maintained in the closed-to-navigation position for essential repairs from January 5, 2026, through March 19, 2026.
During this time, mechanical and structural components will be disconnected, rendering the bridge nonfunctional. A barge will be stationed in the main channel as a working platform, and vessel passage through the draw span will be prohibited. The drawbridge will remain closed to navigation for the entire duration of the project and will not be able to open for emergencies. During the closure, the vertical and horizontal clearance of the flanking spans will remain unobstructed.
Vessels able to safely transit the flanking and approach spans may do so at any time. Vessels may contact the barge or tender on VHF-FM channels 13 or 16. At all other times, the drawbridge will operate in accordance with the regulations outlined in Title 33, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 117.559. Mariners should adjust their transits accordingly and use caution when transiting the area.
