Marine construction activities will occur at the unrestricted channel entrance at Blount Island Marine Terminal on the St. Johns River, beginning on or about February 1, 2026, with an estimated completion date of August 30, 2027. Work may impact navigation and includes crane-mounted spud barge mobilization, deck and material barge mobilization and loading/unloading, relocation of temporary lighterage docking structures, construction of a new lighterage wharf, construction of a new bulkhead (seawall), and shoreline protection work.
Construction operations will be supported by crane barges, material barges, and support vessels operating from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., seven days a week. These activities pose a navigation hazard to vessels traveling within 500 feet of Marine Corps Support Facility - Blount Island. Vessels should remain clear of the construction area and working equipment and transit the area with caution. Crews will monitor VHF-FM Channel 61.
