MA: Sector Southeastern New England, Nantucket Sound, Parker’s River Approach & Entrance Channel, Dredging
- Date Reported: Feb 6, 2026
- Reporter: Waterway Guide Staff
- Source: USCG District 1
- Description:
From December 22, 2025, through February 28, 2026, Monday through Saturday, between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Barnstable County will be conducting dredging operations in the Parker's River Approach & Entrance Channel, Yarmouth, within Nantucket Sound, under Sector Southeastern New England (SLA).
Operations will be conducted by the dredge Sand Shifter, along with various support vessels and approximately 3,500 feet of pipeline. The dredge will be stationary and has limited maneuverability. The discharge pipe may be floating at times and may obstruct the channel during dredging operations. Cables will extend from both the port and starboard sides of the forward portion of the dredge to anchors marked with floats.
Vessels on scene will be monitoring VHF-FM Channels 16 and 18.
Mariners are urged to transit with caution, maintain adequate clearance from all dredging equipment, and be alert for floating pipeline and anchor cables at all times.
