NY: Erie Canal, Bridge E-64, Brewerton Rd (US 11), Bridge Construction
- Date Reported: Feb 8, 2026
- Reporter: Waterway Guide Staff
- Source: USCG District 9
- Description:
From January 13, 2026, through December 31, 2026, between 0600 and 1800, Monday through Saturday, contractors will be constructing a temporary highway bridge and demolishing the original E-64 / Route 11 Bridge at Mile 150.58 over the Erie Canal, part of the New York State Canal System. A final replacement bridge will be constructed before the temporary bridge is completely removed from the waterway.
A barge will be working under the bridge spans between 0600 and 1800, Monday through Saturday. The barge will move to accommodate larger vessels with a 3-hour advance notice. Advance notice should be provided on VHF-FM Channel 16 or by calling 607-345-7488.
From February 7, 2026, through March 31, 2026, the required advance notice for barge movement is extended to 12 hours due to ice congestion in the Erie Canal.
Mariners are advised to plan accordingly and use caution when transiting the area near the Route 11 Bridge.
