  • Reviews Summary

The reviews for Surfside Marina highlight a generally positive experience for visitors, with several key points emerging:

    1. Facilities and Maintenance: Reviewers consistently praise the marina's well-maintained floating docks, clean restrooms, and showers. The facilities are described as functional and in good repair, making it a comfortable stop for boaters.

    2. Staff Assistance: The staff is noted for being helpful and attentive, with many reviewers mentioning that dockhands are available to assist with arrivals and departures.

    3. Pricing: The marina's rates are a common point of discussion. While some find the pricing ($2.00 to $2.50 per foot, plus additional charges for electricity) to be on the higher side, many feel that the quality of the facilities and service justifies the cost.

    4. Location and Accessibility: The marina is conveniently located near the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW), but some reviewers caution about tricky currents and potential wake action from passing vessels. There are also nearby dining options, although no restaurant is on-site.

    5. Overall Experience: Many guests express a willingness to return, citing the marina as a reliable and pleasant stop during their travels. However, some mention disturbances from boat traffic on the ICW, which can cause rocking of the boats.

In summary, Surfside Marina is recommended for its clean facilities, helpful staff, and overall good experience, despite some concerns about pricing and boat traffic.

Good facilities. Helpful staff. Only four stars because the rate was high. I've stay here before and will in the future.

    Great place.

Just off the ICW. Just as you turn into the marina, there are some tricky currents until you get inside. I was expecting to feel more wake action in our slip from the passing barge strings. There was only a little, definitely not a problem.

On departure, be careful not to cut corners to sharply, go all the way into the middle of the ICW before turning E or W. You might find a mud bank and hang up.

I made a reservation and was advised they do not pre-assign slips. The staff would meet me at the dock, wave me in to the slip, and catch lines. That is exactly what happened. I double checked, and was told that there is staff overnight, and that they would be watching for my expected 5:30pm to 6:00pm arrival.

True to their word, as I turned into the marina about 5:30, three guys came down to wave me in and help me get tied up.

Floating docks appear newish, and are in good repair. 50amp power and water at the slip. They have wide slips for catamarans or other wide boats.

Diesel and gas are available on site. No pumpout. They have a boat repair shop as well.

There is a small ship's store on site, with snacks, beer, ice, fishing supplies and boat parts. Bathrooms & showers are in the marina office building and are neat and clean.

No onsite restaurant. The closest restaurant is Dorado's, about a two or three block walk, just outside the marina gate. We ate there, and enjoyed the meal. Other restaurants and a convenience store are about 1/4 to 1/2 mile walk.

$2.50 per foot, plus $20 per night for AC power. So not cheap, but given the good condition and friendly reception - I am OK with those prices.

Visited by car 2/2024 while scouting marinas for a planned cruise down the coast. I was quoted transient rate of $2.50/foot with minimum of $80 per night. Water & electricity at the slip. Fuel available, no pumpout. Functional, but not fancy. Floating docks are in good repair. Reported depth inside the marina is about ten feet. Wide slips are available. Ships store onsite, but no restaurant.

This was our third stay at Surfside Marina and I'm glad to say that they are consistently good. The docks are well maintained, clean and there's a deckhand or two to meet you. Though we didn't need it, there's refueling available at the slips.

The restrooms and showers are also clean and well maintained.

There's some disturbance from GIWW traffic but we found it to be minimal.

A nice facility but the most expensive stop I have had at $2 / ft. Diesel is in the middle price range, but the facilities are the best I have experienced in the GIWW, TennTom, or most rivers I've traveled. Nice staff with a good ships store. I'd recommend it if you need a good safe, clean, and convenient stop.

The Marina is a newer marina and people are very nice. However, the cost is now $2.00 per foot, plus $15 for electricity. We didn't use our heater or A/C so they made some money off of us. There is also no protection from boats going by on the ICW and waves hit the boat pretty hard.

Stopped here during a trip from Sabine Pass to Corpus Christi. Nice folks who are willing to help out. Nice clean facility, definitely would recommend as a place to stop in and spend the night.

Nice place, but mostly fishing yachts and boat storage. People were helpful docking and fueling. Facilities were well taken care of (new owner). Your boat will get rocked by some intracostal traffic. Beach and bar within walking distance.
